How Do You Use Astragalus Root?

There are all sorts of wonderful ingredients out there to help you stay fit and healthy, with a strong immune system - and we feature a lot of them in our liver health supplement elixir. But one of the very best is astragalus, a rather magical ingredient that is incredibly good for you.

It’s not just a fun word to say, either… astragalus has lots of flavonoids in it which serve as antioxidants, alongside vital amino acids. When combined with the other herbal ingredients in de-liver-ance, it can help increase the body’s endurance and resistance to a vast array of physical, chemical and biological stressors.

But you can also enjoy astragalus in other ways and if you really want to give yourself a big boost, why not try cooking with it, as well as drinking it on a regular basis? In fact, one of the best ways to enjoy the root is by whipping up a batch of delicious immunity-boosting soup - just like this recipe on the Traditional Medicines website.

The root itself has been used for thousands of years in traditional Chinese medicine and it has a lovely mild, sweet taste, so works perfectly in soups or with other medicinal herbs. This recipe also calls for kombu seaweed, shiitake mushrooms, red miso paste, spring onions, kale or chard and some firm tofu… perfect for a bit of a wintry pickmeup!

You can also use the root to make your own tea and you’re sure to have a lot of fun trying it in conjunction with other plants and herbs. What about mixing it in with some elderberry, or something like chai? It’s all about experimenting with lots of different flavours to find out what you like and what you don’t… and your kitchen will certainly smell amazing, as a result.

However you decide to try it, your body will certainly benefit from all those lovely antioxidants… and your liver in particular will thank you for taking good care of it! The liver is one of the most important organs in the entire body and has at least 500 distinct functions, so it’s essential that you look after it, as it keeps you in good working order.

It can be difficult to remain health-focused given the onslaught of modern life, however, and all too often we find ourselves reaching for the junk food, drinking too much alcohol and not getting enough exercise… all of which can really take its toll on the liver.

But you can help counteract the effects of a contemporary lifestyle by drinking de-liver-ance on a regular basis. Of course, focus on your diet and get regular exercise, as well, but if you want to support your immune system as much as you can, de-liver-ance is a great way to go.
