What Is Red Sage & What Can It Be Used For?

We all know that to keep our immune systems in good condition, we need to eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, drink lots of water so we can stay hydrated, get enough sleep and get as much exercise as possible… which can seem like a tall order sometimes, when life gets busy and convenience foods suddenly seem like the only option.

But there are other ways you can help give yourself a bit of a health boost and help make sure that you keep yourself in tip-top shape, no matter what life has to throw at you.

Health supplements can prove very useful when you’re running around and perhaps don’t always have the time to really prioritise clean eating. Liver health supplement de-liver-ance contains red sage as a key ingredient, also known as danshen or salvia miltiorrhiza, and this has been used for centuries to help treat all sorts of conditions and ailments.

A recent study, for example, found that one of the most typical uses for danshen is to help treat heart-related issues, including heart attacks, myocarditis and angina.

But it also seems as though it can be used to help keep your liver in good working order, with further research showing that when taken in pill form, it can help with liver regeneration in rats - so it could potentially be used to help people living with severe liver damage in the future, as well.

It works as an anti-inflammatory and has also been shown to lower blood cholesterol, as well as containing antibacterial properties.

The de-liver-ance tonic contains a specific extract of this powerful little herb, highly valued for its qualities in traditional herbal medicine. If it’s harvested properly, it’s possible to extract 300 compounds that have shown great potential for therapeutic benefits.

It’s important to prioritise liver health and do all you can to keep it working properly, as your liver does all sorts of essential jobs, ranging from fighting infection and disease to cleaning your blood, destroying drugs and poisons (including alcohol), processing digested food and controlling your cholesterol levels.

Aside from taking supplements, one of the best ways to protect your liver is to make sure you don’t drink too much alcohol. Regularly drinking more than the recommended amount of booze over a long period of time can cause serious damage to your liver, leading to liver cancer and alcohol-related liver disease.

Make sure you don’t drink more than 14 units of alcohol a week and give your liver at least two days in a row without alcohol so it can recover. This will also help you ditch the habit of drinking every day, if this is a pattern of behaviour that you’ve fallen into.
